Meet Kora | From Unwanted Pup to Household Princess

Meet Kora, a one-year-old Siberian Husky cross French Bulldog who may look a little tough at first glance but is sure to melt your heart with her gentle nature and kindness.

Kora’s life began as part of an accidental, unwanted litter — a reminder of how quickly unexpected puppies can arrive and how important desexing is in preventing unplanned litters.

This shy little lady came into RSPCA's care at just eight months old after being surrendered for her impressive escape-artist skills — the result of severe separation anxiety.

Her previous owners were worried they couldn’t keep her safe and knew she needed a home with secure fencing and the right support to help her thrive.

When Kora first arrived, she was unsure of her new surroundings and often looked to people for reassurance and comfort. Despite the often loud and overwhelming shelter environment, our behavioral team quickly noticed what a well-mannered and gentle girl she was. True to her ladylike nature, she kept her kennel spotless and was inquisitive despite her cautious tendencies.

It was clear that Kora needed a calm household where she would feel safe, included and deeply loved. She appeared to have spent much of her young life outside, but what she truly wanted was to be part of the family.

Thanks to the incredible support of animal lovers like you, Kora found her forever home — with one of our very own RSPCA staff members.

Now affectionately known as “Lil Dingo,” Kora is treated like the princess she was always meant to be.

“She is such a lovely girl. She sleeps on the bed at night and can often be found sunbaking in the garden. She is super confident now. We feel so blessed to have her in our lives.”

While her happy ending was certain, the transition wasn’t without its challenges.

“When we first brought Kora home, she took a few weeks to settle in. Because of her separation anxiety, she hated being left alone and would try to escape to find us. She was very timid and needed lots of calm encouragement."

With support from the RSPCA behavioral team, her new family implemented strategies including neutralizing departure cues, building a positive success station, gradual absence training and providing enrichment through puzzle toys. With patience, consistency and expert guidance, Kora began to build confidence.

Today, she can happily stay home with her Border Collie brother (another beautiful RSPCA rescue) — a milestone that once felt out of reach.

But Kora’s journey didn’t stop there.

She recently stepped into the spotlight as the proud ambassador for RSPCA Lottery No. 90. With her adorable face and soulful brown eyes, she explored the Sunrise Caravan and brand-new Toyota Hilux — happily escaping the rainy weather to curl up on the bed inside.

Kora’s story is just one beautiful example of how RSPCA Lottery ticket purchases change lives. Every ticket sold helps provide food, shelter, veterinary care, behavioral support and love to animals in need — giving them the second chance they deserve.
