Winner Story | Meet Haleema who turned $20 into a $169K prize!

One lucky supporter who picked up just $20 worth of tickets got the surprise of a lifetime — all the way from Malta, where she was travelling for work. Woken by her phone buzzing at 4am, Haleema nearly ignored the call.

“I just kept thinking, who is calling me right now? I needed sleep — I had to be up at 6:30am for work,” she laughed.

But when she finally called back and heard cheering in the background, her first thought was, “Is this a scam?” It wasn’t. She’d just won a brand-new Toyota Hilux and Sunrise Caravan valued at $169,000.

“I went straight to the website to check my ticket and email — and just said WOW,” she recalled. “I tried to go back to sleep, but the Lotteries team told me, you’re not going to sleep now! They were right - I didn’t.”

Back home, she shared the good news with her husband, her two boys, then her parents and sisters.

“Everyone was in shock but they all said: If anyone deserves it, it’s you. That was really lovely to hear.”

An animal lover through and through, Haleema has two Basenji dogs at home — Luna and Loco. Their spirited nature being the original inspiration behind their names. When asked what her dogs would think about the new car and caravan, she said “As long as my dogs are with me, they’ll approve of anything.”

Haleema is no stranger to caravanning, either.

“When I first looked inside I was like wow. I’ve rented a few before, but this is just next level. I’m hoping we can take it away for a weekend soon.” As for the Hilux? “That’s the dream car. I’ve wanted one for a while!”

She’s been sharing her story and encouraging others to support the cause.

“I’ve told a few people and they’ve already gone and bought tickets! I don’t even have to convince them. It’s such a good cause.”

As an animal lover Haleema says she will keep on supporting RSPCA.

“Anything that helps animals is worth it. You hear some shocking stories. I love dogs — I love all animals, really".
